WARDRIVER

Privacy Policy

Wardriver is provided by Liseth Solutions AS, Norway. It records nearby radio observations and your phone’s location on your device. For privacy questions, contact helge@lisethsolutions.no.

Data the app accesses and saves

The sources and options you enable determine what is recorded. Availability depends on Android, your permissions and the hardware.

This information provides local recordings, Bluetooth inspection, decoding, search, capture diagnostics and exports. The app does not use it for advertising or profiling you.

Permissions and recording controls

Nearby-device access supports Bluetooth and applicable Wi-Fi APIs. Location access supports location tracks and Android APIs such as Wi-Fi and cell scanning, even when you are not saving a GPS track. Optional phone-state access supplies additional cellular/subscription context. Notification access lets Android show recording status and controls.

Recording begins when you tap Start. It uses a foreground service and can continue while the app is off screen or the screen is locked, until you pause or stop it or Android interrupts it. You can change sources in Wardriver’s Settings and review access under Settings → Permissions. Android App settings lets you revoke grants.

Local storage and transfers

Recordings, labels, settings and generated export copies are stored in the app’s private storage. Wardriver has no account system, advertising SDK, analytics service or automatic developer upload. Liseth Solutions does not receive your recordings automatically. The Android app does not request Internet permission.

Bluetooth inspection connects to a peripheral and sends service-discovery and read requests. Android may show a pairing prompt. Android’s radio and location services operate under your system settings and their providers’ policies.

You can explicitly export data through Android’s document picker. Your chosen destination may be local storage, a cloud drive or another document provider. That provider and anyone you subsequently share with handle their copies under their own policies. Exports may contain original identifiers, location, notes and raw bytes; they are not automatically anonymized.

Security

App storage is protected by Android’s app sandbox and your device’s security controls. Wardriver does not add its own database encryption or passwords to exports. SHA-256 checks verify data integrity; they do not encrypt or anonymize data. Protect your device and choose appropriate storage and sharing for exports.

Android automatic app backup is disabled. Manual backups are created only when you request an export.

Retention and deletion

Saved recordings remain until you delete them or clear the app’s storage. Sessions → a stopped session → Delete session removes that session’s records and labels from the recording database.

Previously generated exports and backups can still contain deleted session data. App-private export copies remain until app storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled. Exported files and shared copies remain at their destinations and must be deleted separately. See Data deletion for the steps to remove all local data and exported copies.

Support and privacy requests

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request. Support correspondence remains in our email system until deleted; you can request its deletion, subject to any legal obligation to retain a specific record. Do not attach recordings or location data unless needed for your request.

Contact helge@lisethsolutions.no to ask about data we hold through support, request access, correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern. We cannot remotely access or delete recordings kept only on your phone. You may also contact Datatilsynet or your local data protection authority.

This website and policy changes

This policy describes the Android app and support correspondence. This static website is hosted by Vercel. Visiting it sends ordinary web-request information, such as your IP address, requested URL and browser headers, to Vercel to deliver and secure the site; it does not send your app recordings. The site itself uses no analytics scripts, advertising cookies or account forms. See Vercel’s privacy policy for its hosting data practices.

We will update this page and its effective date when the data practices described here change.
